Exceeding Your Expectations

Ekranoplan Engines

As far as power plant – there are a few options available for the end user.

For Heavy Cargo Haulers

AG-12: V12 LS Long Block Engine

2,000 HP at your disposal – perfect option if you plan to move cargo at a maximum vehicle capacity 100% of the time or perhaps enjoy fast rides at mind boggling speeds. It’s your choice.

As of now we are looking into an option to power our ekranoplans with a custom V12 LS engines made by Race Cast PTY LTD. We are presently figuring out the numbers for this engine but it will likely be putting out somewhere between 700 and 1000 hp. The torque will be between 580 and 630 lb ft which will ensure a brisk takeoff when mated to the 5 bladed propeller.

The engine will be specifically modified for marine-aviation usage. It will have a special air-water cooled geared transmission acting as PSRU to reduce the prop speed to about 2,000-2,600rpm. Also, it will have a full FADEC system for the engine.

When You Want Extraordinary Performance For A Fun Ride

AG-12: Steve Morris LS-Based Engine

2 x 1,200++ HP = Fun Rides. If your goal is a personal craft that can deliver thrill rides on demand and comfortably fit 5 to 8 passengers, Steve Morris Engines are the top choice!

As an alternative to the above power plant, we are also looking into an option to power our ekranoplans with custom LS engines made by Steve Morris Engines. The custom engine will likely be putting out somewhere between around 800 and 1200 hp and the torque will be between 600 and 1,000 lb ft.

As with the above counterpart, this engine will be specifically modified for marine-aviation usage.

Plain Vanilla But Still Packing – Chevrolet Performance Crate Engine

AG-12: LS3 430HP Crate Engine

2 x 430 HP – a workhorse that can deliver. This option is the cheapest and has the reduced output but it is a perfectly viable budget option if you don’t plan on pushing the operational envelope in terms of maximum capacity and maximum speeds. You’ll still get top cruising speeds once airborne with a slightly longer take-off distance. Do expect the throttle and vehicle response to be slightly slower. These engines are great for mostly cruise speed operations or a short/intermittent fun ride.

The LS3 is the power behind the Chevy Camaro SS. It’s rated at 430 hp, offering the lightweight advantage of an aluminum cylinder block, aluminum heads, and a composite intake manifold over cast iron engines.
